Getting the right support

If you are struggling with your mental health, it is important to seek support from a qualified professional.

My Brave Sad Days offers journaling guidance and reflective resources, but I am not a trained mental health professional and I am not qualified to diagnose or treat mental illness.

When might it help to seek support?

You may wish to consider reaching out for support if you find that you are:

  • worrying more than usual

  • finding it difficult to enjoy daily life

  • experiencing thoughts or feelings that feel hard to cope with

  • feeling that things are starting to affect your day-to-day life

  • looking for additional support or treatment

Where can you turn for help?

There are many different places you can seek support, including:

  • Your GP (doctor), who can discuss your mental health and help you explore treatment options

  • A trained therapist or counsellor, who can offer talking therapies

  • Friends, family, or trusted adults, who can listen and help you seek further support

  • Charities and support organisations, which offer information, helplines, and guidance

  • Peer support groups, where people share experiences and support each other

Need someone to talk to?

Mind also offers a confidential support line where you can speak to someone about how you’re feeling or get guidance on finding help.

A note for young people

If you are under 18, it may help to speak to a trusted adult such as a parent, teacher, school counsellor, or doctor.
