Storytelling Journal
Storytelling journaling is about turning writing into a story. It can be about you, or it can be about a made-up character who feels a bit like you.
You might write your day as a chapter in a book, invent an adventure, or change how a moment ended. There are no rules — just imagination, curiosity, and freedom.
This kind of journaling helps you begin writing without pressure, explore feelings safely, and discover the joy of telling stories in your own way.
Journaling Prompts:
Write today as a chapter in a book. What would the chapter be called?
Create a character who feels a bit like you. What are they worried about right now?
Turn an ordinary moment (school, a walk, bedtime) into an adventure story.
Rewrite a moment from your day, but give it a different ending.
Your character discovers they have a quiet superpower. What is it, and when does it appear?
Your character finds a note, letter, or message meant just for them. What does it say?
Turn a feeling (like anger, excitement, or sadness) into a place your character visits.
Your character has to go somewhere they don’t want to go. What happens along the way?
Choose an object from your day and let it tell the story from its point of view.
Write about a time your character was braver than they expected.
Imagine today as a film scene. What music would be playing?
End your story with the words: “And this is where everything began to change…”
